From routine dental care to investigation and treatment of more advanced diseases, we have you covered.
Here at Lisadell we offer a full range of dental services including both routine care and advanced dental procedures. Equine dentistry has come a long way over the past decade and should be seen as a normal part of your horse’s regular health care.
Routine dentistry can be performed on yard and more advanced procedures are carried out in the hospital where we have facilities available for radiographs, diastemata widening, dental extractions, sinus surgery, emergency traumas etc. Horses, ponies and donkeys should have checkups and routine management every 6-12 months.
Our Vet Lisa Dunne DVM has completed extensive post graduate training in Equine Veterinary Dentisty.
Her services are complemented by those of our Specialist Surgeon Siobhan McQuillan MVB DVMS DipECVS(LA) who is experienced in advanced techniques and surgical extractions.
Vets are fully trained in routine dental care, additionally, we can offer sedation if required, diagnosis and treatment of oral pathology and sinusitis and advanced treatments and surgery where required. You can have peace of mind knowing that your horse will be examined by a vet with a special interest in Equine Dentistry.
We offer a wide range of Equine Dental services including but not limited to the following:
Oral ulcers can be very painful, causing bitting issues, changes in ridden behaviour, head shaking or tossing as well as quidding and difficulty eating.
We use powered dental tools to safely, painlessly and effectively reduce dental overgrowths.
Oroscopy allows detailed visualisation of the teeth and oral pathologies. This is invaluable in the diagnosis and treatment of dental disease. You can see exactly what is going on in your horses mouth.
Our surgeon is experienced in dental extractions including using minimally invasive techniques. This service is only available in 3 centres in the island of Ireland and we are delighted that we can offer horses the best of dental care at Lisadell.
Sinus disease commonly occurs alongside dental disease in horses. We have the facilities and expertise to diagnose and treat sinus disease including sinusitis and sinus cysts.
Diastema are gaps between a horses teeth which may become impacted with feed and consequently infected and very painful. Diastema widening can help control this debilitating condition and improve your horses performance and quality of life.
